Pilot project in the NHS for the prevention of the catheter-related infections in the Intensive Care Units

The Quality Agency, in collaboration with the WHO, has launched a pilot project in the NHS for the prevention of the catheter-related infections in the Intensive Care Units (ICU).

A multifactorial strategy, based in the experienced carried out in Michigan by Peter Pronovost of the John Hopkins University, has been used in this project, leadered by the SEMICYUC in coordination with the Autonomous Communities.

Creating an ICU network where safe effectiveness-demonstrated practices are used, and promoting a patient safety culture in the ICU of the NHS are other main project objectives.
