Spanish Presidency of the European Union The Fifth International Conference on Patient Safety has been organised within the programme of activities established by the Spanish Presidency of the European Union and will be held in Madrid on the 3rd and 4th of June 2010 in Ramón y Cajal Auditorium, Medicine Department, Complutense University of Madrid.

The objective of this conference is to present international and national experiences in the prevention of infections associated with healthcare (IRAS) and antimicrobial resistance (RAM).

The topics of the Conference will be:

  • Interventions to address AMR and Healthcare-associated infections at a national as well as international level regarding experiences of organizations (such as CDC, ECDC, EMEA, WHO and others) and some European countries.
  • Patient and citizen participation in the prevention of HCAI and AMR.
  • Actions of the European Commission in welfare quality and safety of the patient.
  • Projects of investigation of the European Commission in relation with the safety of patients.

Quality Agency of the National Health System wait to count on, in the inauguration, the presence of the Minister of Health and Social Policy, Dona Trinidad Jiménez and we expect the attendance of over 900 people from all health care fields, academic and research institutions, as well as social and patient organizations, from around the world.

Quality Agency of the National Health System will provide updates on the relevant developments as they occur and put at the disposal of the public in general the draft of the program of the International V Conferencia of Security of the Patient.
